ตก

v. 1. to drop, fall;

to fall (straight) down; 2. to fall off, decrease, diminish; 3. to set in (as evening); sv. 4. down, through.

ช้างตกมัน- to be in rut, a state both physical and mental, in which all tuskers become highly dangerous;

ตกกระ- to have freckles, or any small or large discolouration of the skin; ตกใจ- to become frightened, to be excited or scared, to be startled; ตกยาก- to be very poor; ตกเบ็ด, ตกปลา- to fish with a baited hook and line.

เขาตกบันไดลงมา He fell down the stairs.

เขาขู่ว่าจะลาออก เลยต้องตกบันไดพลอยโจน He made a threat to resign, and had to follow it through. เมื่อคืนนี้ฝนตก Rain fell last night (It rained last night). เขาสอบไล่ตก He failed in his examination. เวลานี้เขากำลังตกอับ At present he is down on his luck.
